Here’s what you need to know about this year’s International Surf Festival.
From August 1-5, the City of Redondo Beach will be hosting the 56th International Surf Festival. This annual festival is presented by BEACHSPORT.org and the Chambers of Commerce and the cities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Los Angeles Country Fire Department, and the Department of Beaches and Harbors.
Every year, this fun and exciting event promotes the four South Bay beach cities, lifeguard services, and the physical fitness of all participants. Participants range from ages 8-80, and there are three main events that festival-goers can look forward to: The Judge Taplin Lifeguard Medley Relay, the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim, and the Charley Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament. Other fun activities and events taking place during the festival include a surfing contest, body surfing contest, beach run, paddle board races, dory race, and youth events.
