As January begins to wrap up, it is a great time to reflect on your progress with your resolutions for the New Year. Remember that list? If you have been making strides towards sticking to your goals, kudos! If, however, you have felt yourself backslide use these tips to help yourself get back on track- and stay there.
- Don’t Let Yourself Forget:If you have lost track of your list of resolutions, you might simply forget to keep at them. Do not let them slip your mind- post your resolutions somewhere you will see them every day, such as on the bathroom mirror, or get an application on your Smartphone that will remind you each day to stay on track.
- Form A Team:Ask your friends about their New Year’s resolutions. If any of them have similar goals for 2015, ask them to team up with you. Having a partner to hold you accountable will keep you motivated when you start to feel a lull in your energy, and will make it much harder for you to give up on your goals entirely.
- Measure It:Did you write any resolutions that focus on more general objectives (e.g. “eat better”)? If so, try breaking them down to tangible, measurable parts. Then, make it a point to sit down regularly and measure your progress. Reflecting on your momentum will be motivating, and appraising any areas where you fell short of your goals can help you understand—and overcome—your obstacles.
